My trip from Kathmandu to Rara- The Queen of Lakes
On 1st November 2016, around 6:00 p.m in the evening I along with my crew members boarded our bus destined to reach the Rara lake from Gongabu buspark, Kathmandu. We were filled with excitement to be at a new place and explore its beauty.
We reached to Nepalgunj by the next morning and after having breakfast we continued our ride and headed to our next stop i.e. Manma, Kalikot (a stop nearer to our destination). We had to spent our night on Manma as it was restricted to ride heavy vehicles after 6:00 p.m. On the third day, continuing our journey we reached to Talcha airport by 7:30 p.m. We spent a night at Talcha having delicious traditional food of Nepal that we had been craving for since days. On the fourth day, finally the day came when we buckled up and secured our shoelace, got set for 2 to 3 hrs of trek from Talcha to Rara lake.
As we walked amidst the woods of Rara National Park listening to the chirping of birds we reached the Shiva temple and worshiped him. As we moved further, we could see the reflection of Rara lake through the woods. It seemed as if the glitters were shining as the sun rays touched its surface. That moment; when we saw the glimpse of Rara, the true feeling of esctacy, can’t simply describe in words how happy and delighted we were. The color of the sky was reflected by Rara and it seemed as if the sky had fallen on the ground: both deep blue – A perfect scenario. The purity of lake was mesmerizing.
I had no wish to leave this place but as they say, “Travelling is like flirting with life. It’s like saying,”I would stay and love you but I have to go”.
As the night passed and the sun had risen once again, the beautiful morning view of the lake could be seen. It was priceless. Here’s a picture of that scene.
Isn’t it beautiful?
Slowly, viewing this nature with immense pleasure we returned back to Kathmandu with never fading memories of the trip and carrying everlasting beauty of Rara imprinted in our hearts.
This way, we ended our trip and it was worth it. I know that whenever, I’ll look back to remember this journey from Kathmandu to Rara it is going to bring a huge smile to my face and a peace of mind looking at the pictures of calm and smoothly flowing Rara.
“Rara- The virgin lake” It is the true definition of beauty.
